Executive Board Members

Prof. Dr. Madhavi Singh Shah

Mrs. Shah is a retired Professor and Former Head of Central Department of Economics, Tribhuvan University.  She is affiliated with various academic institutions and social organizations. 

Her Area of specialization is Gender and Development. Her Ph.D. thesis on ‘Problems and Prospects of Female Industrial Workers in Urban Centers of Kathmandu’ enabled her to scrutinize the narrow access and deprivation of women and helpless children in the economy and society as well. In fact, her Ph.D. thesis on female industrial workers is yet another brick on the foundation that she has laid in course of her endeavor to contribute in the sector of women’s and deprived section of society.

She has worked in the area of combatting trafficking in women and girls in organizational and policy levels. She has done research and worked in the area of women migration on behalf of UNIFEM/ UN Women and University Grant Commission / UGC.

 She has extensive experience in social development sectors.  She holds, the opportunities to work with various national and international organizations and world bank as well  regarding the issues of  girls trafficking, labour migration, resettlement and rehabilitation packages  and many more other upcoming concerns. She has contributed and shared national, regional and international forums on various crucial upcoming issues that civil society or humanity is bound to face in modern era.  Her articles have been published in many national and international journals concerning socio-economic or academic and development experiences.    She has written some books on ‘globalization and economic accesses’ and ‘human relation ships’ as well.

Ms. Chapala Koirala, PhD in Education, MA in Economics

Ms. Koirala initiated her professional career as an economist in Dairy Development Corporation, a semi-government Organization under the Ministry of Agriculture. She moved in social field as the member secretary in Women Services Coordination Committee under then Social Services National Coordination Council chaired by then Her Majesty Queen Aishorya Rajya Laxmi Devi Shah. She also worked with UNDP Nepal for some time. 

She did her Ph D in education and worked as a consultant in the capacity of gender and education expert for various studies with organizations: Sahavagi (NGO), Ministry of Education, Ministry Health, Plan International Nepal, IIDS etc. The studies were supported by multiple donors such as Unicef, UNIFEM, DFID, UN Women, Finnish Government, OXFAM etc.  

She is also founder of Child Development Society (CDS) which works for the cause of children. 

She is co-author of two books Non –formal Education Theory and Practice (in Nepali, book  based on curriculum),  Financing of Education (in Nepali, book based on curriculum) and also has published articles on  gender and social issues in various bulletins and daily papers.  

Ms. Deepa Bhattarai

Ms. Bhattarai is Founder President, DigoPaila (NGO that envisions to create an educated, aware and empowered Nepali society) Since 2017. She was also IP President at   ABC Nepal and she has worked as a Senior Administrative/Finance Officer at the IMF Resident Representative Office, Nepal. She is retired Deputy Director from the Research Department, Nepal Rastra Bank. She has completed her Bachelors of Arts (BA), from Tribhuvan University, Nepal

Mrs. Archana KC Rana

Ms. Rana is a professional, working for tourism promotion and development of Nepal. As tourism also includes socio- economic issues like community engagement and benefit, environment and cultural preservation, Archana has ample insight and experience in these areas. She has a Master’s Degree in English Literature from Tribhuvan University , Kathmanduand  and Bachelor’s degree in Journalism from the university of Mississippi, USA.

Mr. Shyam Sundar Sharma

Mr. Sharma is an expert on Public and Corporate Management basically in the sector of  Institutional Development, Governance, Human Resources, Federalism and Local Government Affairs. He worked with the Nepal Government as a Joint Secretary for more than three decades. Now, He is a freelancer for 15 years. Now he is working as a ‘Institutional Development and Governance Expert’ in the Urban Development Department of Nepal Government, which is funded By the World Bank. He has a Masters Degree in MBA from Tribhuwan University, Nepal and MPA from Liverpool University of the UK.

Mr. Anand Bahadur  Shrestha

Mr. Shrestha having the study of M.A (Eco) M.Com. and B.L has been involved mostly to the area of Transport, Trade, Transit , Trade Facilitation and Privatization  as  his profession for many years. During the tenure of 28 years of service from the entry level officer position to the Chief Executive as the General Manager in a Public sector – Nepal Transport Corporation with the responsibility to operate, control and manage the Ropeway, Railway, Urban transport with Trolley and Auto buses and Truck Operation along with Containers with a strength of 1100 employees. Similarly, he also became the first Executive Director of another public sector – Nepal Intermodal Transport Development Board, a regulatory body to operate, manage and lease the Dry Ports of Nepal under PPP (Public Private Participation).modality.   

In course of job, he has been able to obtain the PG Diploma on Dev. Administration with specialization on Structure of Transport from Leeds University, UK,; Diploma on Privatization from George Washington University, USA. ; Diploma on Multimodal Transport from WES, Belgium and Visiting scholar in UCLA,

He has published several articles on transport, trade facilitation and transit in local as well as foreign papers.

Ms. Mini Rana

Ms. Rana has a Master’s degree in Economics from Banaras Hindu University (BHU) India. She is affiliated with many social organizations specially working for the welfare of vulnerable group such as People with Disabilities (PwDs), Helpless women and children.  She has abundant understandings and perspectives to work for the disadvantaged section of the society.

Ms. Muna Uprety

Ms. Uprety is working as a project focal person at Shakti Samuha (National Level NGO)
Project: “Prevention of and Response to Trafficking to Women and Children” supported by UNICEF.
She has also worked as a Program coordinator at ABC Nepal Kathmandu .She has completed her Masters in sociology from Tri Chandra College, Kathmandu, T.U, Bachelor in Arts (Economics & English Literature) and Intermediate in Arts (Economics & English Literature) from Padma Kanya Multiple College, Kathmandu, T.U. School Leaving Certificate (SLC) from Kankai Secondary School , Surunga, Jhapa, Nepal.

Ms. Devaka KC

Ms. KC is working as a program coordinator at Shakti Samuha , JTIP project (Funded United States Agency for International Development. She has also worked as a Program Manager, CDWN, and November 2022 to August 24th, 2023 (Funded by Australian Aid/Technical support- The Asia Foundation (TAF)-: Fostering effective and Inclusive Sub-National Governance.  She is currently pursuing her M.Phil/PhD in Gender Studies from Tribhuvan University Masters degree in Sociology from Tri- Chandra Multiple Campus, Master’s degree in Political Science from Tribhuvan University, Law of Bachelor (LLB) from Nepal Law Campus, Bachelors in arts from Padma Kanya Multiple Campus, Intermediate from Rapti Babai Campus, Dang and School leaving certificate from Mahendra Saadhaaran MA.VI,Dang

Ms. Sudha Reddy - International Advisor
